In the first in our series of talks to complement the Hidden Voices community display, project leaders Bobby Smith and Lorna McArdle discuss Reading’s important place in LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) history.

Oscar Wilde

Reading University’s Professor Peter Stoneley looks at how Oscar Wilde used historical models – from Greek mythology to Michelangelo – to explore and define his sexual orientation. This is one of a series of talks to complement the Hidden Voices community display.

David Woodward of Dunsden’s Wilfred Owen Association gives a portrait of the troubled young life of the poet Wilfred Owen. This talk is accompanied by poetry recitals from Highdown School sixth-formers. This is one of a series of talks to complement the Hidden Voices community display.
